Tracking of Sexual Assault Kits in Sexual Assault Cases
On August 2, 2023, the Department of Justice submitted a proposed rule to the Wisconsin Legislative Council Rules Clearinghouse pursuant to s. 227.15(1), Wis. Stats. Analysis
The proposed rule will create chapter Jus 21 relating to the tracking of sexual assault kits in sexual assault cases.
Statement of Scope
The scope statement for this rule, SS 024-22, was approved by the Governor on March 24, 2022, published in Register No. 785B on March 28, 2022, and approved by the Attorney General on April 13, 2022. Agency Procedure for Promulgation
A public hearing is required and will be held on a date to be determined.

This rule is being promulgated with the assistance of staff in the Department of Justice’s Divisions of Forensic Sciences and Legal Services, and the Office of the Attorney General.
