3"(am) When a respondent surrenders a firearm under par. (a) 2. to a sheriff, the
4sheriff who is receiving the firearm shall prepare a receipt for each firearm
5surrendered to him or her. The receipt shall include the manufacturer, model and
6serial number of the firearm surrendered to the sheriff and shall be signed by the
7respondent and by the sheriff to whom the firearm is surrendered. The sheriff shall
8keep the original of a receipt prepared under this paragraph and shall provide an
9exact copy of the receipt to the respondent.".

11"(d) If, during the period in which an injunction issued under sub. (4) is in effect,
12a respondent needs to sell property due to economic hardship, the judge or family
13court commissioner shall permit the respondent to have access to any firearm
14surrendered under par. (a) 2. for the purpose of showing the firearm to a prospective
15buyer. A respondent who is given access to a surrendered firearm under this
16paragraph shall be supervised during the time that he or she has such access by the
1sheriff to whom the firearm was surrendered under par. (a) 2. or, if the firearm was
2surrendered to a person other than a sheriff, by the sheriff of the county of residence
3of the person to whom the firearm was surrendered. The respondent shall report to
4the judge or family court commissioner the sale of any firearm resulting from a
5respondent's access to the firearm under this paragraph. If a firearm that was
6surrendered to a sheriff is sold as a result of the respondent's access to the firearm
7under this paragraph, the sheriff shall record the sale on the receipt prepared under
8par. (am) for the firearm and the sheriff and respondent shall sign the receipt to
9acknowledge the sale of the firearm.".
