5"(ak) As an alternative to surrendering a firearm under par. (a) 2., the
6respondent may elect to sell or make a gift of any firearm that he or she owns to
7another person. The respondent must make an election under this paragraph by
8informing the judge or family court commissioner no later than 24 hours after the
9injunction under sub. (4) is issued that he or she is selling or making a gift of some
10or all of the firearms he or she owns. Upon being informed by the respondent that
11he or she is electing to sell or make gifts of firearms under this paragraph, the judge
12or family court commissioner shall stay the surrender requirement under par. (a) 2.,
13except that any firearms that the respondent elects not to sell or give away shall be
14surrendered as provided under par. (a) 2. A judge or family court commissioner may
15issue any necessary additional orders concerning the procedure for selling or making
16a gift of a firearm under this paragraph.".
