ASSEMBLY SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 1997 ASSEMBLY BILL 79

AB79-ASA1,1,5 An Act to renumber and amend 29.093 (2) (f) and 29.225 (4) (a); and to create 29.093 (2) (f) 2., 29.225 (4) (a) 2. and 29.225 (4) (am) of the statutes; relating to: hunting of antlerless deer and small game by certain holders of certificates of accomplishment issued under the hunter education and firearm safety program.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB79-ASA1, s. 1 Section 1. 29.093 (2) (f) of the statutes is renumbered 29.093 (2) (f) 1. amended to read:

AB79-ASA1,1,11 29.093 (2) (f) 1. Except as provided under s. 29.227 (1) (d), a certificate of accomplishment issued under s. 29.225 that may be used in place of a small game hunting license is valid for the hunting of small game in place of a small game hunting license from the date of issuance until March 31 of the following year.

AB79-ASA1, s. 2 Section 2. 29.093 (2) (f) 2. of the statutes is created to read:

AB79-ASA1,2,4 29.093 (2) (f) 2. A certificate of accomplishment issued under s. 29.225 that the department has authorized to be used in place of a permit under s. 29.225 (4) (am) is valid for the hunting of one antlerless deer during the deer hunting season immediately following the date of issuance of the certificate.

AB79-ASA1, s. 3 Section 3. 29.225 (4) (a) of the statutes is renumbered 29.225 (4) (a) 1. amended to read:

AB79-ASA1,2,12 29.225 (4) (a) 1. The department shall issue a certificate of accomplishment to a person who successfully completes the course of instruction under the hunter education and firearm safety program and who pays the instruction fee. The department shall prescribe the form and content of the certificate of accomplishment. The certificate may be used by a resident to whom issued in place of a small game hunting license as required in s. 29.09.

AB79-ASA1, s. 4 Section 4. 29.225 (4) (a) 2. of the statutes is created to read:

AB79-ASA1,2,17 29.225 (4) (a) 2. A resident may use the certificate of accomplishment issued to him or her for successfully completing the course of instruction under the hunter education and firearm safety program for the first time in place of a small game hunting license as required in s. 29.09.

AB79-ASA1, s. 5 Section 5. 29.225 (4) (am) of the statutes is created to read:

AB79-ASA1,3,2 29.225 (4) (am) Authorization for antlerless deer. The department may authorize a person to whom it issues a certificate of accomplishment for successfully completing the course of instruction under the hunter education and firearm safety program for the first time to use the certificate in place of a permit issued under s. 29.107 to take one antlerless deer in specific areas identified by the department. The authorization for group deer hunting under s. 29.405 shall not apply to a person hunting an antlerless deer as authorized under this paragraph.
