(6) (a) In this subsection, "traffic regulation" means a provision of chs.
9194 or 341 to 348 or a local ordinance that conforms with those chapters.

(b) No state traffic officer may be required to do any of the following:

1. Issue a specific number of citations, complaints or warning notices during
12any specified time period for violations of traffic regulations.

12. Stop a specific number of persons or vehicles during any specified time period
2for the purpose of preventing or detecting violations of traffic regulations.

3. Make a specific number of arrests during any specified time period for
4violations of traffic regulations.

(c) The number of citations, complaints or warning notices issued by a state
6traffic officer for violations of traffic regulations and the number of traffic stops and
7arrests made by a state traffic officer for violations of traffic regulations may not be
8given greater consideration than any other factor that is used in deciding the state
9traffic officer's job assignment or promotion or in evaluating the performance of the
10state traffic officer.

(d) Paragraphs (b) and (c) may not be construed as superseding the duty of a
12state traffic officer to maintain public order, keep and preserve the peace, protect the
13public health, safety and welfare and enforce the laws of this state.".
