4Assembly Rule 9 (2) (a) The
speaker shall determine the total number of
5members on each committee, unless specified by statute, joint rule, or assembly rule

6and the allocation of the number between members of the majority and minority
7party shall be determined by the speaker. The total number of members on a
8committee initially determined for a legislative session may not be changed unless
9during the legislative session the majority party loses it majority party status. The
10majority and minority parties of the assembly shall be represented on all assembly
11standing committees and on all joint standing committees on the basis prescribed by
12the speaker, but at least in proportion to the representation of the 2 major political
1parties in the membership of the assembly unless, for the assembly membership of
2a joint committee, such proportional representation places the assembly majority
3party in a minority position on the joint committee.

5Assembly Rule 10 (4) The majority and minority parties of the assembly shall
6be represented on all special committees and temporary special committees on the
7basis prescribed by the speaker, but at least in proportion to the representation of the
82 major political parties in the membership of the assembly.
