TO 2011 SENATE BILL 422

SB422-ASA1,1,3 1An Act to repeal 348.07 (2) (i); and to amend 194.32, 348.05 (2) (f) and 348.07
2(2) (h) of the statutes; relating to: the length of vehicles that may be operated
3on a highway.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB422-ASA1, s. 1 4Section 1. 194.32 of the statutes, as affected by 2011 Wisconsin Act 54, is
5amended to read:
SB422-ASA1,2,6 6194.32 Buses, restrictions. No common motor carrier of passengers shall
7operate any passenger-carrying bus over any public highway of this state with any
8trailer or semitrailer attached except for an articulated bus as defined in s. 340.01
9(2m). Except for an articulated bus as defined in s. 340.01 (2m) which may be 65 feet
10in length, no
No interurban motor bus which exceeds 45 feet in length or 8 feet 6
11inches in width or
is of a double-decked open-roof design shall be operated upon the

1public highways under the authority of this chapter. As used in this section an
2interurban motor bus is deemed to be of a "double-decked open-roof design" when
3passengers are carried therein on an upper level throughout the length of the bus
4over passengers on a lower level throughout the length of the bus and the bus roof
5does not extend throughout the length of the bus or is not permanently enclosed with
6rigid construction.
SB422-ASA1, s. 2 7Section 2. 348.05 (2) (f) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB422-ASA1,2,98 348.05 (2) (f) Eight feet 8 inches for urban passenger buses and 8 feet 6 inches
9for interurban passenger buses

SB422-ASA1, s. 3 10Section 3. 348.07 (2) (h) of the statutes is amended to read:
SB422-ASA1,2,1111 348.07 (2) (h) 65 Sixty-six feet for articulated buses operated in urban areas.
SB422-ASA1, s. 4 12Section 4. 348.07 (2) (i) of the statutes is repealed.
SB422-ASA1, s. 5 13Section 5. Initial applicability.
SB422-ASA1,2,1514 (1) This act first applies to vehicles operated on the effective date of this
15subsection.
SB422-ASA1, s. 6 16Section 6. Effective date.
SB422-ASA1,2,1817 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 7th month beginning after
18publication.
