AB2-AA5,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB2-AA5,1,3 21. Page 1, line 2: after “programs" insert “, suspension of Medical Assistance
3benefits for jail inmates, description of Medical Assistance benefits,".
AB2-AA5,1,4 42. Page 2, line 9: after that line insert:
AB2-AA5,1,5 5 Section 3m. 49.45 (60) and (61) of the statutes are created to read:
AB2-AA5,2,26 49.45 (60) Benefits for jail inmates. (a) The department shall suspend,
7instead of revoke, eligibility for the Medical Assistance program under this
8subchapter while an individual who is a recipient of Medical Assistance benefits is
9an inmate of a county jail such that the individual is eligible for Medical Assistance
10benefits immediately upon release from jail. If implementation of this subsection
11requires approval from the federal department of health and human services, the
12department shall seek approval from the federal department of health and human

1services to implement this subsection and shall implement this subsection to the
2extent approved.
AB2-AA5,2,83 (b) A county or entity that administers the income maintenance program under
4s. 49.78 shall provide to each inmate of a county jail information about eligibility and
5benefits of the Medical Assistance program under this section. The county or the
6entity that administers the income maintenance program shall enroll eligible
7individuals who are inmates in the county jail in Medical Assistance and are being
8released so that they may receive benefits immediately upon their release from jail.
AB2-AA5,2,14 9(61) Materials describing benefits. The department shall create materials
10describing with specificity the benefits, including mental health and addiction
11service benefits, available under the Medical Assistance program under this
12subchapter by each type of program and how to obtain those benefits. The
13department shall make the materials under this subsection available to any
14recipient of Medical Assistance under this subchapter.”.
