SB409-SA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
SB409-SA1,1,4 21. Page 2, line 3: delete the material beginning with “teach" and ending with
3“curriculum" on line 4 and substitute “compel students to affirm, adopt, or adhere to
4any of the following tenets in their personal capacities as individuals”.
SB409-SA1,1,5 52. Page 3, line 1: after “are" insert “necessarily".
SB409-SA1,1,6 63. Page 3, line 3: after that line insert:
SB409-SA1,1,9 7(1d) Student orientation and training. The board shall prohibit institutions
8from requiring students to attend or participate in a noncredit-earning orientation
9or training in which the institution adopts the tenets set forth in sub. (1) (a) to (h).
SB409-SA1,1,13 10(1g) Academic freedom. Notwithstanding subs. (1) and (2), nothing in this
11section, and no board policy, institution policy, or institution employee, shall limit the
12expressive rights and academic freedom of an instructor of an institution to do any
13of the following:

1(a) Conduct research, publish, lecture, or teach in the academic setting.

3pedagogical purposes that involve exploring, or arguing for or against, the tenets set
