Dear Mr. Sanders:
Pursuant to the authority conferred upon me as Speaker of the Assembly by Assembly Rule 10(2), I wish by this letter to create a temporary Special Committee on Generation Next. During the September floor period, the Assembly will act on Assembly Resolution 19, which will formalize the creation of the committee. At that time the temporary special committee will cease to exist.
The co-chairs of the committee will be Reps. Tim Hoven and Mike Huebsch.
The creation of this committee does not carry with it authority to hire additional staff.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Very truly yours,
David Prosser, Jr.
Speaker

Room 211 West, State Capitol

Dear Speaker Prosser:
I am writing to inform you that I am appointing a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) subcommittee of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee.
I have asked the following members to serve on the TIF subcommittee:
Rep. Mickey Lehman (subcommittee chair)
Rep. Bob Goetsch
A382 Rep. Judy Klusman
Rep. Jeannette Bell
Rep. Wayne Wood
Rep. Doris Hanson
Many agree there are problems with the TIF laws and with tax increment financing districts (TIDs). Our goal is to identify specific problems with TIF that the legislature can address by changing state law. In addition, the subcommittee may investigate alternative funding sources for TIDs.
We intend to solicit ideas from state and local government officials, business people and representatives of interest groups, and hope to develop a series of TIF law recommendations that can be drafted as legislation.
Our subcommittee will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, July 26 at 9:30 a.m. in room 417 North (the GAR Hall) of the State Capitol. It will be an informational meeting and testimony will be restricted to invited speakers.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Michael "Mickey" Lehman
State Representative
58th Assembly District
