The Honorable, The Legislature:
It is with great pleasure that I present to you the seventeenth edition of the Affirmative Action Report for Wisconsin State Government. The purpose of the report is to provide an overview of the state's work force and show the progress made in the past year.
There has been steady growth in the number and percentage of racial/ethnic minorities and women in the permanent classified work force. The strength of Wisconsin's classified and unclassified work force continues to be enhanced as we diversify and provide opportunities for all of our citizens. We know that when we meet our goal to eliminate underutilized job categories, we will not only have improved our work force but also our delivery of service to the citizens of Wisconsin.
With a renewed sense of purpose, plans are already in place to build upon the successes of the past. We will continue the positive movement in diversifying our labor force.
