AB285,1,4
1An Act to renumber 86.303 (5) (a);
to amend 86.303 (5) (f) (intro.) and 86.303
2(5) (i) (intro.); and
to create 86.303 (5) (ag) of the statutes;
relating to: the
3method of determining reductions in general transportation aids for late filing
4of applications for such aid.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the department of transportation (DOT) administers a
general transportation aids program that makes aid payments to a county based on
a share-of-costs formula, and to a municipality (city, village or town) based on the
greater of a share-of-costs formula for municipalities or an aid rate per mile ($1,432
for 1997 and thereafter). If a county or municipality fails to file the necessary
documentation for aid within the specified application deadline, the amount of aid
payable to that county or municipality for the following year is reduced by 1% for each
day late, up to a maximum 10% reduction.
This bill specifies that the amount of aid will be reduced by 1% for each working
day late, up to a maximum 10% reduction. The bill defines "working day" as all days
except Saturdays, Sundays and statewide legal holidays.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
