3the nation's highways each day; and

Whereas, the loss of more than 5,000 lives each year in accidents involving large
5trucks raises important safety issues; and

Whereas, truck drivers, who experience more workplace fatalities than any
7other single occupation, are acutely aware of their responsibility to highway safety;

Whereas, truck drivers across the nation have committed themselves to make
10June a model month for compliance with the truck safety rules; now, therefore, be
