1An Act to repeal 36.53 (1) (b) and 36.53 (2) (b); and
to renumber 36.53 (2) (a)

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin (UW)
System is authorized to establish a program of gift certificates for the payment of
tuition at the UW System. The individual named in a gift certificate may use the
certificate to pay all or a portion of his or her tuition at any UW campus or for a UW
study-abroad program. A gift certificate is not transferable except to a parent, child,
spouse, or sibling. Under this bill, a gift certificate may be transferred to anybody.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
