1An Act to amend 165.25 (10) of the statutes;
relating to: reports on restitution

This bill changes the information that the Department of Justice must include
in its report to the Department of Administration and the Joint Committee on
Finance regarding restitution received by crime victims. Under the bill, the report
must specify the total number of individuals who received restitution instead of
identifying the individuals who received restitution and must provide the total
amount paid to all recipients instead of providing the amount paid to each recipient.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 165.25 (10) of the statutes is amended to read:

(10) Report on restitution. Semiannually submit a report to the
5department of administration and the joint committee on finance regarding money
6received by the department of justice under a court order or a settlement agreement
7for providing restitution to victims. The report shall specify the amount of
1restitution received by the department of justice during the reporting period; the
2number of persons to whom the department of justice paid restitution and the
total 3amount that the department of justice paid to
each recipient all recipients during the
4reporting period; and the department of justice's methodology for selecting recipients
5and determining the amount paid to each recipient.
