AB832,1,2 1An Act to amend 440.465 (1) of the statutes; relating to: local licensure of
2transportation network drivers.

This bill authorizes a city, village, or town to require that a driver for a
transportation network company be licensed by the city, village, or town. Under
current law, the Department of Safety and Professional Services regulates
transportation network companies and their drivers and current law prohibits, with
limited exceptions, local regulation of transportation network companies and their
drivers.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB832,1 3Section 1. 440.465 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB832,2,44 440.465 (1) Section 349.24 does not apply to a transportation network company
5or to a participating driver engaged in transportation network services or the
6participating driver's personal vehicle used for those services. No city, village, town,
7or county may enact or enforce an ordinance or adopt or enforce a resolution that

1regulates a transportation network company or its participating drivers and their
2personal vehicles in connection with transportation network services , except that a
3city, village, or town may require that participating drivers be licensed by the city,
4village, or town and may charge a fee for the license
.
