SJR99,1,43 Whereas, the Wisconsin Lions began collecting used eyeglasses in the 1950s;

SJR99,1,65 Whereas, in 1990, a grant was obtained to create the Wisconsin Eyeglass
6Recycling Center at the Lions Camp, near Rosholt, Wisconsin; and
SJR99,1,87 Whereas, the Wisconsin Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center is one of only 18 in the
8world and one of 12 in the United States; and
SJR99,1,119 Whereas, the Lions, Lioness, and Leos Clubs in Wisconsin collect and process
10over 800,000 pairs of glasses a year with more than 450,000 pairs sent to 49 different
11developing countries; and
SJR99,1,1312 Whereas, globally, one in four children cannot see well enough to learn to read
13without glasses; and
SJR99,1,1514 Whereas, by the age of 40, 90 percent of adults experience a decrease in the
15ability to read, thus needing glasses; and
