1An Act relating to: funding for bilingual-bicultural education programs and
2making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides additional funding to the Department of Public Instruction
for bilingual-bicultural education programs in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 fiscal
years. A bilingual-bicultural education program is a program designed to improve
the ability of limited-English proficient pupils to speak, read, and write in the
English language, so that the pupils will be able to perform classwork in English.

printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do

Bilingual-bicultural education aids. In the schedule under s. 20.005 (3)
5for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under s. 20.255 (2) (cc),
6the dollar amount for fiscal year 2019-20 is increased by $8,510,200 for the purpose
7for which the appropriation is made. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the
1statutes for the appropriation to the department of public instruction under s. 20.255
2(2) (cc), the dollar amount for fiscal year 2020-21 is increased by $26,810,200 for the
3purposes for which the appropriation is made.
