AR18,1,2 1Relating to: ordering the governor to send aid and resources to the U.S. – Mexico
2border to assist with immigration efforts.
AR18,1,63 Whereas, all members of the Wisconsin State Legislature reaffirm their strong
4support for lawful and orderly immigration into the United States, as lawful and
5orderly immigration provides all of our states and the nation with innumerable
6economic, social, and cultural benefits; and
AR18,1,87 Whereas, the United States is facing a crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border due to
8an influx of individuals who are entering the United States illegally; and
AR18,1,109 Whereas, in March 2021, more than 170,000 migrants were apprehended at the
10southwest border, the highest number in a month in 15 years; and
AR18,1,1211 Whereas, thousands of migrants are traveling through harsh, unsafe elements;
12being enslaved; and even perishing in their efforts to cross the southern border; and
AR18,1,1413 Whereas, cartels are profiting from the trafficking of women and children
14across the border, earning tens of millions of dollars every week doing so; and

1Whereas, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is dedicated to enforcing
2immigration laws and securing the border and is working tirelessly to keep America
3and the American people safe; and
AR18,2,64 Whereas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and local law enforcement
5agencies are woefully understaffed and overworked due to the unprecedented influx
6of individuals crossing the border illegally; and
AR18,2,97 Whereas, on March 14, 2021, the federal government ordered the Federal
8Emergency Management Agency to assist with processing unaccompanied children
9who are detained at facilities at the border; and
AR18,2,1110 Whereas, states have assisted with immigration enforcement in the past by
11sending resources and aid, including sending members of the National Guard; and
AR18,2,1512 Whereas, on April 20, 2021, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued a declaration
13of emergency in response to the crisis at the border and announced that he is
14deploying up to 250 members of the Arizona National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico
15border to assist with immigration efforts; and
AR18,2,1816 Whereas, Wisconsin can help address the ongoing immigration crisis and
17defend our borders by sending aid and resources to assist with immigration efforts;
18now, therefore, be it
AR18,2,22 19Resolved by the assembly, That the Wisconsin State Assembly stands in
20proud support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and law enforcement
21personnel as employees and members of these agencies dedicate their lives to
22protecting the border and keeping our country safe; and
AR18,3,2 23Be it further resolved, That the Wisconsin State Assembly requests the
24governor to send aid and resources to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist the U.S.
