Consumer goods. A secured party shall cause the secured party of record for a financing statement to file a termination statement for the financing statement if the financing statement covers consumer goods and:

(a) There is no obligation secured by the collateral covered by the financing statement and no commitment to make an advance, incur an obligation, or otherwise give value; or
409.513(1)(b)
(b) The debtor did not authorize the filing of the initial financing statement.

Time for compliance with sub. (1). To comply with sub.
(1), a secured party shall cause the secured party of record to file the termination statement:

(a) Within one month after there is no obligation secured by the collateral covered by the financing statement and no commitment to make an advance, incur an obligation, or otherwise give value; or

(b) If earlier, within 20 days after the secured party receives an authenticated demand from a debtor.

Other collateral. In cases not governed by sub.
(1), within 20 days after a secured party receives an authenticated demand from a debtor, the secured party shall cause the secured party of record for a financing statement to send to the debtor a termination statement for the financing statement or file the termination statement in the filing office if:

(a) Except in the case of a financing statement covering accounts or chattel paper that has been sold or goods that are the subject of a consignment, there is no obligation secured by the collateral covered by the financing statement and no commitment to make an advance, incur an obligation, or otherwise give value;

(b) The financing statement covers accounts or chattel paper that has been sold but as to which the account debtor or other person obligated has discharged its obligation;

Effect of filing termination statement. Except as otherwise provided in s.
409.510, upon the filing of a termination statement with the filing office, the financing statement to which the termination statement relates ceases to be effective. Except as otherwise provided in s.
409.510, for the purposes of ss.

409.523 (3), the filing with the filing office of a termination statement relating to a financing statement that indicates that the debtor is a transmitting utility also causes the effectiveness of the financing statement to lapse.

Assignment reflected on initial financing statement. Except as otherwise provided in sub.
(3), an initial financing statement may reflect an assignment of all of the secured party's power to authorize an amendment to the financing statement by providing the name and mailing address of the assignee as the name and address of the secured party.

(3), a secured party of record may assign of record all or part of its power to authorize an amendment to a financing statement by filing in the filing office an amendment of the financing statement which:

Public-finance or manufactured-home transaction. Except as otherwise provided in subs.

(7), an initial financing statement filed in connection with a public-finance transaction or manufactured-home transaction is effective for a period of 30 years after the date of filing if it indicates that it is filed in connection with a public-finance transaction or manufactured-home transaction.

Lapse and continuation of financing statement. The effectiveness of a filed financing statement lapses on the expiration of the period of its effectiveness unless before the lapse a continuation statement is filed pursuant to sub.
(4). Upon lapse, a financing statement ceases to be effective and any security interest or agricultural lien that was perfected by the financing statement becomes unperfected, unless the security interest is perfected otherwise. If the security interest or agricultural lien becomes unperfected upon lapse, it is deemed never to have been perfected as against a purchaser of the collateral for value.

When continuation statement may be filed. A continuation statement may be filed only within 6 months before the expiration of the 5-year period specified in sub.
(1) or the 30-year period specified in sub.
(2), whichever is applicable.

Effect of filing continuation statement. Except as otherwise provided in s.
409.510, upon timely filing of a continuation statement, the effectiveness of the initial financing statement continues for a period of 5 years commencing on the day on which the financing statement would have become ineffective in the absence of the filing. Upon the expiration of the 5-year period, the financing statement lapses in the same manner as provided in sub.
(3), unless, before the lapse, another continuation statement is filed pursuant to sub.
(4). Succeeding continuation statements may be filed in the same manner to continue the effectiveness of the initial financing statement.

Transmitting utility financing statement. If a debtor is a transmitting utility and a filed initial financing statement so indicates, the financing statement is effective until a termination statement is filed.

Record of mortgage as financing statement. A record of a mortgage that is effective as a financing statement filed as a fixture filing under s.
