March 20, 2001 - Introduced by
Committee on State and Local Finance (Select).
Referred to Committee on State and Local Finance (Select).
AB232,1,2
1An Act to amend 59.43 (2) (b) of the statutes;
relating to: fees charged by a
2register of deeds for certifying copies of documents.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a register of deeds is authorized to charge a fee to provide
copies of documents that are recorded in his or her office, and he or she is also
authorized to charge a fee to certify the copies. Currently, the copying fees are $2 for
the first page of a document and $1 for each additional page, plus 25 cents to certify
the copy of the document. None of these fees applies to the department of revenue,
however.
This bill increases the certification fee to $1.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
