1An Act to amend 346.88 (1) of the statutes;
relating to: driving a vehicle when
2animals are in the front seat of the vehicle and providing a penalty.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits a person from driving a vehicle when the number of
persons that are in the front seat of the vehicle, or any person is so situated, so as to
obstruct the driver's view to the front or sides or interfere with his or her use of both
hands and feet for purposes of driving the vehicle. Failure to comply with this
prohibition may result in a forfeiture of not less than $20 nor more than $40 for a first
violation or, for a second or subsequent violation within a year, a forfeiture of not less
than $50 nor more than $100.
This bill provides that this prohibition also applies to the number of animals
that are in the front seat of a vehicle, or any animal that is so situated, so as to
obstruct the driver's view or interfere with his or her use of both hands and feet.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
