1An Act relating to: a study on alternatives to the solitary confinement of
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Corrections to prepare, within one year,
a report for the legislature on the alternatives to the solitary confinement of inmates
with the goal of eliminating the practice.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
(1) Report on alternatives to solitary confinement.
The department of 5
corrections shall study alternatives to the solitary confinement of inmates with the 6
goal of eliminating solitary confinement. Within one year after the effective date of 7
this subsection, the department of corrections shall submit a report from the study
to the chief clerk of each house of the legislature for distribution to the legislature 2
under section 13.172 (2) of the statutes.
