SJR78,1,32 Whereas, natural disasters affect communities across the country, so it is
3important that every household is prepared; and
SJR78,1,44 Whereas, any community can be impacted by a disaster or emergency; and
SJR78,1,65 Whereas, common disasters may include extreme heat, extreme cold, flooding,
6winter storms, droughts, and wildfires; and
SJR78,1,87 Whereas, lack of emergency preparedness can result in injury, death, and
8preventable monetary damages; and
SJR78,1,119 Whereas, families across Wisconsin can take active steps to prevent and
10mitigate against emergencies; these steps may include insurance, emergency
11planning, and developing emergency preparedness and supply kits; and
SJR78,1,1412 Whereas, federal, state, and local governments have developed and created
13programs to inform communities of common prevention and survival tools in case an
14emergency occurs; and

1Whereas, Wisconsin has averaged 20,000 motor vehicle crashes during the

4flashlight, and booster cables may help individuals prepare for and overcome harsh

SJR78,2,76 Whereas, the legislature has an opportunity to bring awareness to the
7importance of emergency preparedness; now, therefore, be it
SJR78,2,9 8Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the legislature
9proclaims September 2017 as Emergency Preparedness Month in Wisconsin.
