1An Act to create 79.085 of the statutes;
relating to: the use of county shared

This bill requires counties to spend shared revenue payments and mandate
relief payments first for probation and parole hold costs in county jails, for circuit
court expenses, and for youth services expenses, and then for other costs for which
the county would otherwise levy property taxes.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

1. 79.085 of the statutes is created to read:

479.085 Use of county payments. A county shall use the payments that it
5receives under ss. 79.03, 79.04, 79.058, and 79.06 to pay the following expenses in
6the following sequence:

7(1) The expenses that are not otherwise funded by state or federal aid or by any
8designated revenue source and that are for probation and parole holds in county jails,
1for circuit courts under s. 753.19, and for which community youth and family aids are
2paid under s. 301.26.

3(2) The costs for which the county would otherwise levy a property tax, as
4reflected under s. 74.09 (3) (b) 1.
